Location

The neighborhood of Wester is excellent for commuters. Two significant roadways border Wester: Loop 289 and Marsha Sharp Freeway. The place is perfect for students and employees of Texas Tech University, TTU Law School, University Medical Center, Covenant Health System and Lubbock Christian University. But because of its proximity to the major highway that crosses town, and the highway that loops all the way around the city, it’s a convenient location for anyone to live in Lubbock. Additionally, Wester is bordered by Slide Road, which is a significant roadway that contains many shops and restaurants.

Houses

The average home price in Wester, according to City-Data, is $149,422 which is slightly higher than the city average. Many of the houses are retro one-story houses with open floor plans, making them great starter homes for young professionals.

Parks

Wester residents are within walking distance of CT Ratliff Park, located on the south side of the neighborhood. You can always pick up a friendly game of tennis. Or, go for a picnic and volleyball kind of Saturday.

Schools

Students living in Wester will attend school in Lubbock ISD. Starting at Stewart Elementary, then moving to S. Wilson Middle School and finishing at Coronado High School. Beginning in middle school, young residents will have access to several magnet programs. EPICS-Engineering Projects in the Community, developed by Purdue University, is a service-learning design program students can start in middle school, and carry through to high school. For college prep, students have access to the Infinity Project, developed by Southern Methodist University, from middle school to high school graduation. At the high school level, students can participate in the year-long Engineer Your World program developed by UTEACH, The University of Texas and the National Science Foundation.
