- Durable Boxes
- Packing Peanuts
- Bubble wrap/tissue paper/newspaper
- PVC Tape
How to Wrap Your Items
The first step in packing is sorting all your delicate items. Wrap these items with bubble wrap, tissue paper, or newspaper to avoid any damage. Start by placing the paper or bubble wrap on a flat surface. Next, put the item at the center. Proceed by rolling your valuables into the paper. You may want to double or triple wrap your most delicate items.
Cushion Your Box
Prior to placing your items in the box, get the packing peanuts and line a few inches for a cushion. A pro packing tip is to set everything heavy towards the bottom and lighter, more fragile items on top. After you are done packing your box, fill in any holes or gaps with more packing peanuts for maximum cushion.
If you are packing any plates, books, or similar items in shape and size, you should store them vertically to save space.
Use a Sharpie or broad, felt-tipped marker to label each box with the name and room it should go. If you have fragile or delicates, make sure to mark the side with, “This End Up” where appropriate.
Helpful Packing Tips
Limit how much weight you are putting into each box. We recommend not exceeding more than 30 pounds. Overweight boxes can collapse and damage your valuables. Underpacking will prevent this from happening. Seal your boxes with heavy duty tape. PVC tape is affordable and the most durable packing tape.
By following these tips, you can relax and tell yourself your items are well prepared and ready for your upcoming move. McDougal wishes you good luck with your packing!
